This is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
This week's theme is the Top 10 movie Adaptations. I've split them up as the 5 best and the 5 worst. I do wish that every book made into a movie would be 5 hours long and include every single chapter/line. That’s just not going to happen. The thing that pisses me off about movie book adaptations, is that the screen write always feel the need to change the ending. I mean…really?! Most have read the book, know what is going to happen, then you want to make some artistic decision? Ugh.
So... my list (in no particular order)
5 Best:
-The Notebook - Actually pretty much all of
Nicholas Sparks books, I find the movie better. I guess it doens't hinder the movie by always casting such hotties.
- The Hobbit– I felt like this movie was awesome. I saw it
before I read it though- so that may be why.
- Harry Potter- while not the best, they did a pretty fantastic
job. And I just can’t speak ill of HP. Of course the later movies were done a lot better.
- He’s Just Not That into You. For the type of book that this
was, I loved the movie.
- The Hunger Games – the same as with HP. Not a bad adaptation. Plus I love Jennifer Lawerence. Yup. Girl crush.
-Bonus: Life of Pi. Exactly how I pictured it.
5 Worst:
- Twilight series – K-Stew. Oh man. I know, I’ve been told I
look like her, (which I’m not sure if I should take as a compliment or not…) so
I should kinda like it. But what a blah movie. Whoever directed this should be shot. But I did watch all 4 of them hoping they would get better.
- I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell- While not a great book to
begin with, the movie could have been hilarious, and it ws lack lustre to say the least.
- Confessions of a Shopaholic-
I loved the breeziness of the books and I found that the movie didn’t
give it justice. Why they changed the personalities of the main characters were changed, who knows? (okay...apprantley I lost my grasp of the English language...why they changed the main personalities, who knows? is what it is suppose to say!)
- The DaVinici Code/Angels and Demons- Tom Hanks, seriously? Not
who I pictured Robert Langdon to be at all. I could see what they wanted to do, but just no.
- The Nanny Diaries- I know this one is a bit in the left field
but I just watched it on Netflix, and yah… what this shit Scar Jo?
Whats on your list?
