Top Ten Books On My Fall To-Be-Read list

Today I am going to be linking up with The Broke and The Bookish for some classic Top Ten Tuesdays.

My main goal for September is to clear out those ARCs. I have been putting them aside because, well I've been reading some really terrible ones. So most of these are ARCS, although I'm sure most are already on shelves because I'm slow.

That being said, my Top 10 books on the ever growing To Read list are.....

1) Solomon's Freedom by Dennis Meredith.  Yes I picked this for the sole fact that it has a chimpanzee on the cover. High hopes.

2) The Possibilities by Kaui Hart Hemmings. I really enjoyed The Descendants, so here is hoping that this one is good as well.

 

3) I Like You Just The Way I Am: Stories About Me and Some Other People by Jenny Mollen. Again, I have no idea who this is.. I just like memoirs.

4)The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I haven't read a 'classic' from my 100 Books Bucket List challenge, so this one is it for Fall. 

 5) Allegiant by Veronica Roth. I guess I should finish this series.

6)What I Know For Sure by Oprah Winfrey. I'm not a huge fan, but I feel compelled to read this for a reason. Boring cover though.

 7) Dark Places by Gillian Fylnn. I started reading this, then I forgot where I put it and now that I have finally found it again, I am now determined to read it!

 8)Virgin by Radhika Sanghani. Another ARC. 

9) Snowblind by Christopher GoldenJust in time for the snow... although we've had that already here. 

10)  Let The Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist. Something scary for Halloween.

Any other books I should check out? Heard anything good/bad about my book choices?

Any bets on if I actually read these ones or pick something else completely?

I was looking through bloglovin' and I kept coming across this lovely meme hosted by  Coffee Addicted Writer and I figured I would give it a try. Confession, I love writing prompts. Usually I sit in front of the computer and have a ''uhhhhh what should I blab on about today" attitude, so when someone tells me what to write about... GOLDEN!

Are you in a book club? How does your book club choose books? How far in advance do you choose?

Well, let me tell you. I am in a book club, and its the best one ever. As we like to say bevvies and delicious foods are mandatory, reading the book is optional.

I know this doesn't sound like a book club that the avid reader would love, but its a great opportunity to chat with fantastic ladies.  We even manage to talk about the book for a few minutes too.  As for picking books, we just kind of suggest books and then see what happens. Its a very low-key book club.

I've been really bored at work. Really. Which is great for all you fellow bloggers because I have been reading a ton of blogs and following a ton of them in return on bloglovin' (Side note, how great is that site???- I think its 1000x better than the google follow [see I can't even remember the name of it])

1) I am currently reading Follow Me #1- Deadly Games by Cara Lockwood. I've read a few of her more chick-lit books and am excited to see what this one is all about.


2) I just finished reading two books. Both fantastic. Idenitity X by Michelle Muckley and Trafficked by Sophie Hayes. The reviews will be up later this week.




3) I think I am going to be reading Doppler by Erlend Lee. I did buy it soley for the cover. I just love mooses.  Plus its on the top of my huge pile of books that just came in the mail!! It was like Christmas you guys!

Top Ten Tuesdays: Top Ten Books I Would Love To See As A Movie/TV Show

This is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

In the perfect world all book to movie adaptations would be word for word. I mean they have a screenplay practically written for them.  I wouldn't care if its a 3 hour movie as long as they stayed true to the book.

So what books would I like to see as a movie/TV series?

1) Crank by Ellen Hopkins. I think this series would be a great movie. Actually any of her books would be great movies.
2) Harry Potter as a TV show. There would be no excuses of cutting anything out!
3) Identity X by Michelle Muckley. I just finished reading this late last night, and the whole time I kept picturing what a great movie this would be.
4) The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingslover. I love this book. It would be great to see it on the screen. I have a feeling they couldn't do it justice, but still would be nice.
5) Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher- as a movie. Is it one already? Are they making one? I just want the rumors to stop or for someone to give me the DVD already so I can watch it.
6) Outlander by Diana Gabalon. As a TV series. Have you seen the size of those books? And since there are so many of them, I think it could guarantee at least 3 seasons.
7) The Rules of Civility by Amor Towles. As a movie. I think it might be because I just watched The Great Gatsby and could totally see this in the same style.


and that's really all I can think of at this moment as most books that I would like to see are already in the process... So here is a  Harry Potter pic that made me laugh out loud

1) I am currently reading The Girl You Left Behind by Jojo Moyes. I hear very good things about this!

2)I just finished reading Sixteen, Sixty-One by Natalie Lucas. Wow. Its a memoir on a realtionship with a 44 year age difference. Yup. You read that right. My review is actually the post before this if you'd care to check it out!

3) I think I will read 419 by Will Ferguson. Anybody else read it?

1) I am currently reading Waking Up Married by Mira Lynn Kelly. Here is my non-thinking chick-it book. I am a little hesitant because I just looked at some reviews and they say the book sucks.  Hmmm..... I will let you know!

2) I just finished reading The Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Alborn. Crossed another off the good ol' book bucket list.  I was suprised with this one and actualy enjoyed it. A short quick read that makes you think. I will post a review shortly.


3) What to read next. Maybe The Demon Lover by Kate Douglas. Its been sitting on my netgalley shelf for so long, I think its time to crack open. Or scroll open

1) Well, I just finished my book yesterday, brought both my ipad and my kobo to work today, and they are both dead!! What is the luck of that happening? Oh right, its a shitty week, so I went to my hidden bookshelf at work (where I find random books in the lunchroom, I "borrowed" them) and found The Other Queen by Philippa Gregory. I haven't read a historical fiction in awhile so I"m actually pretty excited about it. I hope its good and not left for a reason.

2) I just finished "Are You There Vodka, It's Me Chelsea" by Chelsea Handler and meh... I love her as a comedian, but as an author not so much. She came across as bitchy more so than funny. I also started "A Tale of Two Cities" by Charles Dickens and after a couple chapters I put it down. Not because it wasn't good, but because it seems more of curl up on the couch, cold day kind of read.

3) If I had my kobo/ipad I would be reading something fluffy like  Donna Kauffman's "Babycakes". I just want something to not think and I find 'chick-lits' are the answer or something smutty like Eighty Days Yellow by Vina Jackson

It took me a long time to appreciate these guys. I swear I listened to their album constantly, but never liked them and never understood why anyone would. But then one day it clicked, and now I love them. Here are some lyrics, which make beautiful quotes by the way!

Top Ten Tuesdays: Things That Make Your Life As A Reader/Book Blogger Easier

Another round of TTT by the lovely people over at The Broke and the Bookish. This week the theme is Top Ten Things That Make Your Life As  A Reader/Book Blogger Easier

I really try not to be sarcastic. But the very first thing I thought of is…

1)      My computer.  Without it I don’t know how the blogging would commence .

2)      Coffee. Tea. Wine. Water. They all make blogging easier. Well they help make the words flow. Coherent or not.

3)      Goodreads. I found out about this site about 2 years ago, kind of doing half ass reviews on there but not really putting effort into them. I love that I can pick out books I want to read and see my recommended reading lists.

4)      Other book blogs. I love looking through them, picking up pointers, things I want to add to mine. Also, I like looking through them to see what me as a reader likes on a blog: font, pics, etc.

5)      Friend’s reviews and recommendations of books. Sometimes based on someone else’s opinions of the book I reassess mine. Plus they keep me being from a complete book reader.

6)      Chapters. If I could get locked in a store, it would be this one.  I seriously pick my books based on what is on the front tables.

7)      My trusty little note pad. I think my brain thinks I’m in school having to write a book report when I am reading. I have little notes strewn across my notebook for when it comes times to review I can just look at this to see my thoughts at the time.

8)      Bloglovin’. I love this site. It has helped me connect with fellow bloggers and too find a whole array of blogs that I know devotedly follow.

9)      My job. I hate my job. I sit here and do nothing. And if I didn’t get paid so so so good I would leave. The plus side of this job is that because I do nothing it gives me time to work on my blog and read. 2 pluses.

10)  Weekly memes like this one. I find they really help connect people and give me a schedule to follow while blogging too!

1) I am currently reading The Third Chimapnzee by Jared Diamond for my intellectual read.  For the fun read I am reading A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens.  I'm not sure if fun is the right word though. I am trying to power through my book bucket list and with the luck I have with not liking classics, I'm aprehensive.




2) I finally finsihed The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. Wow. I will write a review shortly.


3) I think after the classic read I will need something carefree. Chick-lit?
 Thinking of trying out Lauren Conrad's- The Fame Game.

A little bit of a mix as always. Have to keep it interesting.
