Top Ten Books On My Fall To-Be-Read list

Today I am going to be linking up with The Broke and The Bookish for some classic Top Ten Tuesdays.

My main goal for September is to clear out those ARCs. I have been putting them aside because, well I've been reading some really terrible ones. So most of these are ARCS, although I'm sure most are already on shelves because I'm slow.

That being said, my Top 10 books on the ever growing To Read list are.....

Solomon's Freedom
1) Solomon's Freedom by Dennis Meredith.  Yes I picked this for the sole fact that it has a chimpanzee on the cover. High hopes.

The Possibilities2) The Possibilities by Kaui Hart Hemmings. I really enjoyed The Descendants, so here is hoping that this one is good as well.

I Like You Just the Way I Am: Stories About Me and Some Other People
3) I Like You Just The Way I Am: Stories About Me and Some Other People by Jenny Mollen. Again, I have no idea who this is.. I just like memoirs.

The Alchemist4)The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I haven't read a 'classic' from my 100 Books Bucket List challenge, so this one is it for Fall.

Allegiant (Divergent, #3) 5) Allegiant by Veronica Roth. I guess I should finish this series.

What I Know For Sure6)What I Know For Sure by Oprah Winfrey. I'm not a huge fan, but I feel compelled to read this for a reason. Boring cover though.

Dark Places 7) Dark Places by Gillian Fylnn. I started reading this, then I forgot where I put it and now that I have finally found it again, I am now determined to read it!

Virgin 8)Virgin by Radhika Sanghani. Another ARC.

Snowblind

9) Snowblind by Christopher GoldenJust in time for the snow... although we've had that already here.

Let the Right One In10)  Let The Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist. Something scary for Halloween.

Any other books I should check out? Heard anything good/bad about my book choices?

Any bets on if I actually read these ones or pick something else completely?

Top Ten Books I've Read in 2013- TTT

I haven't done one of the Top Ten Tuesdays in a while, but I figured that this is a perfect way to re-cap some of my favourite books I've read in2013. And I read a lot. 116 of them to be exact. Crazy to think I set my goal at 50, then 75, then 100 and surpassed all of them.

But back to the TTT. It's hosted by the Broke and the Bookish.

Top Ten Book's I've Read in 2013

1) Life of Pi by Yann Martel
2) Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
3) Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
4) Tricks by Ellen Hopkins
5)The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls
6) The Fault in our Stars by John Green
7) Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend by Matthew Dick
8) Sixteen, Sixty One by Natalie Lucas
9)Hyperbole and A Half By Allie Brosh
10)Berlin Wolf by Mark Florida- James

And I also re-read The Hunger Games and Catching Fire, which are pretty awesome so they deserve an honourable mention.

Top Ten Tuesdays: Top Ten Books I Would Love To See As A Movie/TV Show

This is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

In the perfect world all book to movie adaptations would be word for word. I mean they have a screenplay practically written for them.  I wouldn't care if its a 3 hour movie as long as they stayed true to the book.

So what books would I like to see as a movie/TV series?

1) Crank by Ellen Hopkins. I think this series would be a great movie. Actually any of her books would be great movies.
2) Harry Potter as a TV show. There would be no excuses of cutting anything out!
3) Identity X by Michelle Muckley. I just finished reading this late last night, and the whole time I kept picturing what a great movie this would be.
4) The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingslover. I love this book. It would be great to see it on the screen. I have a feeling they couldn't do it justice, but still would be nice.
5) Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher- as a movie. Is it one already? Are they making one? I just want the rumors to stop or for someone to give me the DVD already so I can watch it.
6) Outlander by Diana Gabalon. As a TV series. Have you seen the size of those books? And since there are so many of them, I think it could guarantee at least 3 seasons.
7) The Rules of Civility by Amor Towles. As a movie. I think it might be because I just watched The Great Gatsby and could totally see this in the same style.

and that's really all I can think of at this moment as most books that I would like to see are already in the process... So here is a  Harry Potter pic that made me laugh out loud

Top Ten Tuesdays: Things That Make Your Life As A Reader/Book Blogger Easier

Another round of TTT by the lovely people over at The Broke and the Bookish. This week the theme is Top Ten Things That Make Your Life As  A Reader/Book Blogger Easier

I really try not to be sarcastic. But the very first thing I thought of is…

1)      My computer.  Without it I don’t know how the blogging would commence .
2)      Coffee. Tea. Wine. Water. They all make blogging easier. Well they help make the words flow. Coherent or not.
3)      Goodreads. I found out about this site about 2 years ago, kind of doing half ass reviews on there but not really putting effort into them. I love that I can pick out books I want to read and see my recommended reading lists.
4)      Other book blogs. I love looking through them, picking up pointers, things I want to add to mine. Also, I like looking through them to see what me as a reader likes on a blog: font, pics, etc.
5)      Friend’s reviews and recommendations of books. Sometimes based on someone else’s opinions of the book I reassess mine. Plus they keep me being from a complete book reader.
6)      Chapters. If I could get locked in a store, it would be this one.  I seriously pick my books based on what is on the front tables.
7)      My trusty little note pad. I think my brain thinks I’m in school having to write a book report when I am reading. I have little notes strewn across my notebook for when it comes times to review I can just look at this to see my thoughts at the time.
8)      Bloglovin’. I love this site. It has helped me connect with fellow bloggers and too find a whole array of blogs that I know devotedly follow.
9)      My job. I hate my job. I sit here and do nothing. And if I didn’t get paid so so so good I would leave. The plus side of this job is that because I do nothing it gives me time to work on my blog and read. 2 pluses.
10)  Weekly memes like this one. I find they really help connect people and give me a schedule to follow while blogging too!

Top Ten Tuesdays:Top Ten Books I Wish Could Have Had Sequels

This is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish

When I first read this topic, I was like SWEET, super easy. Then I started to compile the list and I was stumped. I sometimes think there are too many books that jump on the sequel train and that they should just be left as is, letting me wonder what could happen.

Books I Wish Could Have Had Sequels:

1) HARRY POTTER. Yes. I would love to have JK Rowling continue to write these. There has to be more adventures Harry and the gang can get into!

2) Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. As I was reading it I kept seeing a second novel in the making.

I really could not think of any! So I am switching this to books I wish didn’t have sequels:

1) The Outlander series. I really liked the first one, and the second one and I’ve been stuck on the 3rd novel for about 5 years now. I feel like the plot is getting old and with each book being a gazillion pages long, I can’t see how Diana Gabaldon keeps coming up with ‘new’ things.

2) The Obsidian, Lux craze. Nope. Just didn’t get it.

3) Fifty Shades of Grey. I get it. You like getting tied up and spanked. But after book 3, how many unique sex scenes can you have? I think this is a lot of the erotica type books.

4) The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo series. Middle way through book 2 I was done. I still finished all 3 but wow Stieg Larsson knows how to blab on about useless shit. I feel like he could have done it in 2 books if he cut out all the crap.

I think for me the issue is that many authors try and make a trilogy. Easy money, guaranteed followers. But they seem to forget that they should still try and make every book stand out on its own.

So those are my lists.
Whats on yours?

Top 10 Tuesdays: Top 10 words/topics that make me not want to pick up a book

This is a weekly meme hosted by the lovely The Broke and the Bookish.

This weeks topic is : Ten Words/Topics That Make Me NOT Pick Up A Book.

This is suprisingly very hard for me to write about.
But lets see I guess I can come up with a few.

1) Aliens.- They just don't do it for me in regards to supernatural beings.
2)When a book promises to be the NEXT blah and blah. All I can think of while reading it is that it is nothing like this aforementioned book or it is a complete copy of it. Let me decide what comparisons to make.

3) Graphic novels. I liked comincs growing up. And by comics I mean Betty & Veronica. I don't want to read them now. So if thats mentioned anywhere, then nope. Sorry

4) War stuff. I can't stand war movies. I don't care about reading about them. That's what history class was for.

Serisouly guys, thats all I can come up with...

I honestly feel like I will give any topic a try no matter on what the topic is.  Even while reading it and I'm cringing in disgust, I will still tough it out.  Sometimes I pick up a book that is so derranged just to see if I can cope. Book Confession #209432

Whats on your will not pick up list?

Top 10 Tuesdays: Top Ten Best/Worst Movie Adaptations

This is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This week's theme is the Top 10 movie Adaptations. I've split them up as the 5 best and the 5 worst. I do wish that every book made into a movie would be 5 hours long and include every single chapter/line. That’s just not going to happen.  The thing that pisses me off about movie book adaptations, is that the screen write always feel the need to change the ending. I mean…really?! Most have read the book, know what is going to happen, then you want to make some artistic decision? Ugh.

So... my list (in no particular order)

5 Best:

-The Notebook - Actually pretty much all of Nicholas Sparks books, I find the movie better. I guess it doens't hinder the movie by always casting such hotties.

- The Hobbit– I felt like this movie was awesome. I saw it before I read it though- so that may be why.

- Harry Potter- while not the best, they did a pretty fantastic job. And I just can’t speak ill of HP. Of course the later movies were done a lot better.

- He’s Just Not That into You. For the type of book that this was, I loved the movie.

- The Hunger Games – the same as with HP. Not a bad adaptation. Plus I love Jennifer Lawerence. Yup. Girl crush.

-Bonus: Life of Pi. Exactly how I pictured it.

5 Worst:

- Twilight series – K-Stew. Oh man. I know, I’ve been told I look like her, (which I’m not sure if I should take as a compliment or not…) so I should kinda like it. But what a blah movie. Whoever directed this should be shot. But I did watch all 4 of them hoping they would get better.

- I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell- While not a great book to begin with, the movie could have been hilarious, and it ws lack lustre to say the least.

- Confessions of a Shopaholic-  I loved the breeziness of the books and I found that the movie didn’t give it justice.  Why they changed the personalities of the main characters were changed, who knows? (okay...apprantley I lost my grasp of the English language...why they changed the main personalities, who knows? is what it is suppose to say!)

- The DaVinici Code/Angels and Demons- Tom Hanks, seriously? Not who I pictured Robert Langdon to be at all.  I could see what they wanted to do, but just no.

- The Nanny Diaries- I know this one is a bit in the left field but I just watched it on Netflix, and yah… what this shit Scar Jo?

Whats on your list?

This weeks Top Ten are theTen Most Intimidating Books.  I found this list to be intriguing and difficult to pick out 10.   And most are actually from my classic pile  and they make it on the list because I have such a hard time reading them, as I just cannot see why they made the popularity list!

Jonathan Strange & Mr NorrellUlysses

6) Ulyesse by James Joyce (the title scares me for some reason)
